Deep Dive | Updated Conditions Report for Smith Mountain Lake
Published on 10-17-2024
Here’s a quick breakdown of the current conditions on Smith Mountain Lake this week, brought to you by the Deep Dive App.
Water Clarity
Water clarity has been stable and clear for the last month. With no major precipitation events forecast before the tournament we do not expect the water clarity to change much in the next week.
Tournament Patterns
Our tournament pattern database shows the main lake in the mid to lower end of the lake being the most productive this time of year. Try to find brush piles on ditches or points and target them with a football jig or drop shot. Docks in pockets targeted with a finesse jig or wacky rigged worm should also produce. The clear, sunny conditions should have the bass holding tight to cover.
Deep Dive’s database features over 10,000 tournament patterns from the top 10 finishes in major fishing tournaments.
Moon Phase
There is a full moon and clear skies forecast for Thursday night before the event which should affect the morning bite in a negative way. Expect the late morning to early afternoon periods to be more active.
Lake Level
The lake level has come up a little over a ½ foot in the last week, but still remains 1.5 feet below full pool.
Wind Effects
The wind is forecast to be light (between 3-5 mph) from the North on each day of the event.
