Deep Dive | Updated Conditions Report for Lake Norman

Published on 04-10-2024

Here’s a quick breakdown of the current conditions on Lake Norman this week, brought to you by the Deep Dive App.

Water Clarity

Approximately two weeks ago, satellite imagery indicated a notable condition of stained water within the upper end back of creeks but with mostly stained to clear water in the main body. The mid to lower end of the lake was stained to clear. Recent observations have confirmed a significant improvement in water clarity in the upper end creek areas while the main body of water has remained mostly unchanged.

Tournament Patterns

Historical data highlights the lower end main section of the lake as a consistent producer of top finishes during the spawn period, with the mid-lake main section and back half of creeks coming in at a close second. Deep Dive’s database features over 10,000 tournament patterns from Top 10 finishes in major fishing tournaments.

Wind Effects

Throughout the tournament, prevailing winds will primarily emanate from the west and southwest. On the first day, anticipate winds stronger than usual, featuring gusts reaching into the upper twenties. By the second day, the intensity of the winds is expected to decrease moderately. The morning of the third day will start with a calm, nearly windless atmosphere, but the conditions observed on the second day will make a return by the afternoon.
